Another L-39 Skyfox aircraft took off from Aero for LOM PRAHA

Vodochody, January 19, 2026 Aero Vodochody handed over another L-39 Skyfox aircraft to the state-owned company LOM PRAHA. This is already the fifth Skyfox that will serve at the Aviation Training Center in Pardubice. The handover of another aircraft, the sixth in the series, is planned for the end of January/beginning of February this year.

Today after lunch, another L-39 Skyfox aircraft took off from Vodochody Airport and landed safely at the military airport in Pardubice after a 20-minute flight. The aircraft will expand the existing fleet of four Skyfox aircraft, which were delivered last year and are used here for basic and advanced training of Czech and foreign pilots. The L-39 Skyfox meets the most stringent alliance standards and is considered a reference platform for training European pilots.

The aircraft delivered today is the first of four Skyfoxes that will be delivered based on an option exercised during NATO Days in Ostrava last year,” explains Viktor Sotona, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Aero Vodochody, adding: “We plan to complete the last two aircraft by the end of this year.”

The original contract for the delivery of the first four L-39NG aircraft was signed in November 2022. The first two aircraft for LOM PRAHA took off from Vodochody Airport in February 2025, with the remaining two aircraft delivered in August 2025. In September 2025, an option for four more Skyfox aircraft was exercised, with all four aircraft to be delivered this year.

The L-39 Skyfox is a modern multi-purpose aircraft capable of performing a variety of functions, from pilot training to tactical and reconnaissance missions. The Skyfox is the most efficient aircraft in its class, available in both Western and Eastern configurations and certified according to EU and NATO regulations. This versatile technology platform combines modern simulation technologies and ground training systems. The Czech L-39 Skyfox training aircraft offers an innovative combination of modern avionics, a powerful jet engine, and excellent flight characteristics, making it a suitable choice for all phases of training pilots of 4th and 5th generation aircraft, reconnaissance, and tactical missions focused, for example, on cooperation with various ground forces of the army.
