Aero gains altitude, EBITDA up by a billion

Vodochody, June 4, 2025 – AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE reported its best financial results in modern history in 2024. With the support of its owners and a new management strategy focused primarily on sales of its own L-39 Skyfox aircraft, Aero achieved a turnover of over CZK 6 billion, adjusted EBITDA rose to CZK 821 million, and the company achieved a net profit of CZK 102 million. Compared to 2021, Aero increased its EBITDA by more than CZK 1 billion and plans to continue growing.

Adjusted EBITDA provides a more objective and accurate view of the company’s profitability and is an effective tool for investors, analysts, and businesses.

The record economic results confirm the correct transformation strategy adopted by the company after the change of ownership in 2021. The key pillars are the serial production and sale of the new L-39 Skyfox tactical training jet, the significant development of cooperation programs in the field of aerostructures, and active cooperation with existing customers and their support.

The results for 2024 clearly confirm that the decision to focus on our own product, the L-39 Skyfox aircraft, and at the same time on strong and stable cooperation programs, was the right one. Aero is once again becoming a respected European manufacturer of military aircraft. This result is primarily thanks to our entire team, all those who devote their work and efforts every day to Aero’s growth and success,” said Viktor Sotona, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “The strategy we set three years ago is working and bearing fruit. Skyfox is proof that Aero can develop and deliver a top-of-the-line military aircraft and is on track for a successful future.”

Record sales and stable growth of key programs

Aero’s turnover for 2024 was CZK 6.007 billion, which is CZK 1.75 billion more than in the previous year. The main driver of growth was deliveries of the L-39 Skyfox to customers in Vietnam, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. The L-39 Skyfox program accounted for 63% of total sales. Programs in the Aerostructures segment, particularly the Airbus A220 and Embraer C-390 Millennium, contributed 23% of sales and also recorded significant growth in production volume. The remaining 14% is attributable to support and repairs for L-39 and L-159 aircraft.

Skyfox on the world stage

By the end of 2024, Aero had delivered 12 aircraft to Vietnam, and in February 2025, the first two aircraft were handed over to the Czech state-owned company LOM PRAHA, which uses them to train F-35 pilots. In 2024, Aero also completed production of the first aircraft for Hungary, delivering the first three aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force in May 2025. In 2024, Aero signed contracts with two new customers for the delivery of L-39 Skyfox aircraft and continued intensive negotiations with other interested parties from Europe, Asia, and Africa.

A220 and C-390: civil programs on the rise

Cooperative programs in the field of aircraft structures remain the second pillar of growth. Revenues from this segment amounted to CZK 1.39 billion (23% of total revenues) and increased by more than half a billion year-on-year. The most significant projects were the Airbus A220, where Aero significantly increased the production of leading edges and confirmed further expansion of production in the coming years. The A220 program accounted for 58% of revenues from cooperation programs. The second is the Embraer C-390 Millennium, where Aero is significantly increasing production based on an amendment to the contract concluded in the fall of 2024. This program accounted for 35% of revenues in the cooperation segment and will continue to grow in accordance with the contract.

Investments and innovations for further growth

In 2024, Aero invested a total of CZK 164 million in machinery, IT infrastructure, and modernization of its premises. The main items include a new forming press, the implementation of an ERP system from IFS, and the introduction of a Siemens PLM solution for product lifecycle management. At the same time, CZK 70 million was invested in the development and further improvement of the L-39 Skyfox aircraft, and improvements to the avionics of the L-159 aircraft continued, where Aero is testing its development and innovation capabilities.

Sustainability and responsibility are priorities

In addition to its economic results, Aero places great emphasis on developing human potential, cooperating with schools, improving working conditions, and ensuring the sustainability of its operations. The company has strengthened its ESG activities, is modernizing its infrastructure, and prides itself on its responsible approach to employees, customers, and local communities.
