Sixth L-39 Skyfox aircraft delivered to LOM PRAHA
Vodochody, January 27, 2026 This afternoon, the sixth L-39 Skyfox aircraft intended for pilot training took off from Vodochody Airport. The Aviation Training Center in Pardubice will now have a fleet of six modern Skyfox training aircraft at its disposal. The remaining two aircraft will be completed and delivered by the end of this year.
Last week, the fifth L-39 Skyfox aircraft took off from Vodochody Airport, followed today by the sixth aircraft. At the Pardubice airport, the aircraft will be used for basic and advanced training of Czech and foreign pilots. The L-39 Skyfox meets the strictest alliance standards and is considered a reference platform for training European pilots, including preparation for 4th and 5th generation aircraft.
“Within a week, we successfully completed the delivery of two more L-39 Skyfox aircraft. We will manufacture and deliver the remaining two aircraft by the end of the year,” says Viktor Sotona, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aero Vodochody, adding: “We greatly appreciate our customer’s trust and are pleased that Skyfox remains a key part of the modern training platform for 4th and 5th generation combat aircraft pilots.”
The original contract for the delivery of the first four L-39 Skyfox aircraft was signed in November 2022. The first two aircraft for LOM PRAHA took off from Vodochody Airport in February 2025, and the remaining two were delivered in August 2025. In September 2025, an option for four more Skyfox aircraft was exercised, with the first two from this option being delivered in January 2026.
The L-39 Skyfox is a modern multi-purpose aircraft capable of performing a variety of functions, from pilot training to tactical and reconnaissance missions. The Skyfox is the most efficient aircraft in its class, available in both Western and Eastern configurations and certified according to EU and NATO regulations. This versatile technology platform combines modern simulation technologies and ground training systems. The Czech L-39 Skyfox training aircraft offers an innovative combination of modern avionics, a powerful jet engine, and excellent flight characteristics, making it a suitable choice for all phases of training pilots of 4th and 5th generation aircraft, reconnaissance, and tactical missions focused, for example, on cooperation with various ground forces of the army.
