Three more L-39 Skyfox aircraft flew to Hungary

Vodochody, November 19, 2025 This week, three more L-39 Skyfox aircraft departed from Vodochody Airport to their customer in Hungary. The first two aircraft set off on Tuesday, and the third Skyfox flew to the Hungarian military base in Kecskemét this morning. This brings the total number of new Skyfox aircraft delivered to Hungary to eight.

Yesterday and today were very busy at Vodochody Airport. First, the majestic Embraer C-390 aircraft landed here with representatives of the Hungarian army, and in the afternoon, two L-39 Skyfox aircraft took off for Hungary. The last of the Skyfoxes took off for its new home base this morning.

For the Hungarian Embraer C-390, this was a symbolic return to the place where some of its important parts are manufactured, as Aero Vodochody has been successfully involved in the production of structural assemblies for this military multi-purpose aircraft for several years. Specifically, Aero manufactures fixed wing leading edges, doors, cargo ramps, and the rear fuselage.

The actual handover of the Skyfox aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force is preceded by several important steps that must meet the necessary requirements for aircraft operation. Next week, the aircraft will be accepted directly by the customer at the air base in Kecskemét, Hungary.

The actual process of handing over the Skyfox aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force is preceded by several important steps that must meet the necessary requirements for operating the aircraft. Next week, the aircraft will be handed over to the customer at the Kecskemét Air Base in Hungary.

The first three L-39 Skyfox aircraft were delivered to the Hungarian Air Force at the end of May this year, and another two aircraft took off from Vodochody Airport in September. With today’s delivery, eight aircraft have already arrived in Hungary, with the remaining four to be delivered in 2028. Aero Vodochody signed a contract with the Hungarian Defense Forces Command in May 2022. The contract covers the delivery of a total of 12 L-39 Skyfox aircraft, eight of which are in training configuration and four in reconnaissance configuration. The contract also includes the delivery of ground equipment, simulators, and a ground training system.

The L-39 Skyfox is a modern multi-purpose aircraft capable of performing a variety of functions, from pilot training to tactical and reconnaissance missions. The Skyfox is the most efficient aircraft in its class, available in both Western and Eastern configurations and certified according to EU and NATO regulations. This versatile technology platform combines modern simulation technologies and ground training systems. The Czech L-39 Skyfox training aircraft offers an innovative combination of modern avionics, a powerful jet engine, and excellent flight characteristics, making it a suitable choice for all phases of training pilots of 4th and 5th generation aircraft, reconnaissance, and tactical missions focused, for example, on cooperation with various ground forces of the army.
