The SIAF airshow commemorated the legendary Biele Albatrosy
The aircraft from Aero Vodochody, including the L-39NG, attracted attention of visitors at SIAF 2021 airshow in Slovakia, which took place on September 4 and 5 at the Malacky-Kuchyňa air base. Aero was also present at the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the legendary acrobatic group Biele Albatrosy.
The aerobatic group of the Slovak Air Force Biele Albatrosy had been flying on the L-39 aircraft in the years 1991–2004. Before the SIAF 2021 started, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Chvojka, the leader of the former aerobatic group, had had an opportunity to fly a next generation of the L-39, the L-39NG.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary toast, all acrobatic group members received the L-39NG kits with original camouflage of Biele Albatrosy. "We prepared as a gifts the L-39NG models, because we believe that the L-39NG will also continue in the tradition of the L-39 as an acrobatic aircraft," said Jakub Hoda, Vice President of Aero Vodochody for Sales & Business Development.
Before the ceremony, a solo L-39NG acrobatic display by Aero’s pilot Vytautas Požela took place. Two L-29 Delfín aircraft also performed flight display at the SIAF 2021. The demonstration of aircraft produced by Aero Vodochody at SIAF 2021 was crowned by a performance of the Czech Air Force pilots Aleš Seidl and David Byrtus. Their synchronized acrobatic show with two L-159s and pyrotechnic effects won the award for the best flight display of the SIAF 2021 airshow.
