The light combat and training aircraft L-159 combines many years of Aero’s experience from the development of military jets with the latest advances in avionics, engines and aircraft systems. The single-seat L-159 is designed as a light combat aircraft optimized for a variety of air-to-ground and air-to-air tasks and reconnaissance missions. The aircraft is equipped with multi-purpose radar for all weather conditions and day and night operation, it can also carry a wide range of standard NATO weaponry, including air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles and laser guided bombs.
The two-seat L-159 is based on the structure of the single-seat version of the L-159 and is primarily designed for advanced and operations training. The configuration of the L-159 can be adapted to the specific requirements of the customer.
An L-159 system, consisting of the L-159 A/B/T aircraft, integrated logistic support, ground training system, flight planning and evaluation means, and other equipment, has been successfully implemented in the Czech Air Force. In April 2014, the company signed contracts for the supply of L-159 aircraft owned by the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic to the American company Draken International and to the Iraqi Air Force.
The single-seat L-159 is a light multi-role combat aircraft designed for a variety of air-to-air, air-to-ground and reconnaissance missions. The aircraft is equipped with a state-of-the-art multi-mode radar for all-weather, day and night operations and can carry a wide range of NATO standards stores including air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles and laser guided bombs.
The two-seat L-159 is a derivate of the single-seat L-159, primarily designed for Advanced and Operational/Lead-In Fighter Training. The L-159 configuration can also be tailored to customer specific requirements and adapted to needs of basic training as well as combat missions including air-to-ground, patrol and reconnaissance missions.

L-159 serving the Czech Air Force
L-159 ALCA single-seat light combat aircraft were put in service the Czech Air Force in 2000; the two-seat training-combat version L-159T arrived in 2007.
The L-159 aircraft perform a broad number of tasks from advanced and operations training over close air support up to reconnaissance missions and air defence. They regularly participate in international NATO flying training events (such as the Tactical Leadership program, NATO Air Meet, Clean Hunter, and Flying Rhino).
AERO also continued with its program of upgrading the L-159's functions – in 2014, the company successfully completed production of a new wing with an integral fuel tank, increasing the fuel storage capacity of the L-159 and considerably increasing its flight range.
L-159 aircraft serving by the international customers
In April 2014, the company signed a contract for the supply of ten single-seat L-159A and two two-seat L-159T1 to Iraqi Air Force. Aero delivered first L-159 aircraft to Iraqi Air Force in December 2015.
Another contract for the supply of up to 28 L-159 aircraft to American company Draken International was signed in July 2014. As in the previous case, repairs of the aircraft and delivery of logistic equipment are part of the supply. The aircraft will be used for tactical flight training of US Air Force pilots. Aero delivered the first aircraft to the new owner during a ceremony in September 2015.
