Aero Vodochody AEROSPACE cooperates with other companies on multiple projects which lead to participation on manufacturing of various aircraft of Airbus family. Tradition of the aerostructure programmes for Airbus began in 2009 when Aero signed the contract with Messier-Bugatti-Dowty for landing gear assemblies. Based on the successful deliveries and flawless synergy, other companies engaged with Aero on other designs to deliver exquisite products for Airbus SE aircraft.
Aero is fully responsible for design, industrialization, certification and production of the fully assembled and equipped fixed leading edge (FLE) of the wing ready for being mounted to the aircraft Airbus A220.
The Airbus A220 aircraft is a single-aisle aircraft for short and medium-haul commercial traffic. Two versions of the aircraft (A220-100 and A220-300) can carry between 100 and 150 passengers. This aircraft was developed and launched by the Canadian company Bombardier under the name CSeries. In July 2018 (after Airbus entered the project), the aircraft was renamed Airbus A220, because in October 2017, Airbus joined the project, controlling a 50.01% stake, with 31% holding Bombardier and 19% owned by the Canadian company Investissement Québec. The first prototype of the smaller version took place in September 2013, the prototype of the larger type took off for the first time in February 2015. In 2016, both versions of the aircraft entered service at their first customers. At the end of 2018, Bombardier had 537 fixed orders and delivered a total of 57 aircraft.
