Aero will partcipate in EV-55 development

30/08/2007 | AERO will participate in the development of the EV-55 small utility twin-engine turboprop aircraft, the latest project of the Czech aviation industry, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

AERO will participate in the development of the EV-55 small utility twin-engine turboprop aircraft, the latest project of the Czech aviation industry, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

AERO has recently signed a contract on the solution of research, development and construction of the EV-55 aircraft with the EVEKTOR, spol. s r.o. company, who is the leader of the whole project. In the years 2007 – 2010, AERO will cooperate on the solution of the spheres mainly connected to aeroelasticity, design and testing. Technometra Radotin a.s., the 100% subsidiary company of AERO dealing with development and production of landing gears, will also participate in the project.

“The long-term partnership of AERO Vodochody and EVEKTOR is a natural result of the efforts of the Czech aviation industry to join together and continue in the development of own design aircraft, project with significant value added. It is great news for the whole industry field,” said Jaroslav Ruzicka, General Manager of EVEKTOR.

“The project will help us increase our experience in the development of small civil transport aircraft and utilize the potential of our development facilities. We believe that this project will lead to further cooperation,” said Jiri Fiala, AERO Engineering Department. The volume of the production reaches up to dozens of million Czech Crowns.

The EV-55 aircraft is designed for 9 to 14 passengers or cargo of up to 1.800 kg. Its main advantage should be relatively low operating and acquisition costs. The first prototype is equipped with the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-21 engine.
